Welcome

Whitbourne itself is just one of a group of six parishes which make up the Parish of Greater Whitbourne, in the care of the Rector, David Howell, pictured here. There are four churches still in use and lovingly cared for, but the one at Wolferlow has now been made redundant.

The parish is situated in beautiful countryside in the North East of the County of Herefordshire.    Bounded on the East by the River Teme and on the South by Bringsty Common, the western part consists of sparsely populated farmland, while Whitbourne itself is a large village, many of whose inhabitants are connected with farming, and some of whom work in Worcester or Birmingham.

The collect for 14th March

Mothering Sunday

God of compassion,
whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary,
shared the life of a home in Nazareth,
and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself:
Strengthen us in our daily living
that in joy and in sorrow
we may know the power of your presence
to bind together and to heal;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

Lay-led services at Upper Sapey, Tedstone Delamere, and Edvin Loach

A new "experimental" Sunday Worship service has been devised for use at our churches when a priest is not available. It is a well-structured non-communion service with all the key elements (Prayers, Confession, Readings, Creed, Intercessions, and even hymns and canticles if desired), but no sermon. It is intended to enable worshippers at Upper Sapey, Edvin Loach, and Tedstone Delamere to have a meaningful act of worship every Sunday at their usual time. Click here for a pdf of the new service booklet. A "Resource Pack" containing guidance notes, the Service Booklets and readings sheets are in each of these churches for use if desired.
